"Had been trying barefoot running style/gait in my Air Equalons, which helped with occasional knee pain - BTW age 55. So decided to try these - no particular choice among NIke Free range.
First impressions - small even by NIke's standards (BTW Nike, why can I only select sizes for the review that are currently in stock?) . ordered size 10, but had to return and order size 11 - and to avoid delivery charge, order some more stuff - why can't NIke do exchanges?
I have off-the-scale wide feet, and the completely unstructured, soft sock uppers are comfortable, without compromising running control.
I found initially I ran faster than I knew, and exhausted myself doing PBs round my routes largely on pavements. Running feels very easy and comfortable, must be efficient, and no problems on roads with thin sole.
No particular muscular strain or discomfort from switching to thinner soles - maybe my mid/fore foot gait was already established. Bit early yet to assess longer term impact on knees and hips, which I expect to be positive.
Did have trouble on frosty (not icy) mornings, where grip is way down on previous NIkes.
Agree with others about picking up stones and stuff in the soles - unless you clean these shoes after each run, never put these on in the house before you go, unless you want to be handed the vacuum when you get back.
Really wonderful shoes. I can't see why you would want "structured" running shoes, and why NIke still makes them.

"These shoes are so comfortable! I simply love the flexible feel - it is like running in a thick sock.
My feets have not hurt since I started running with these shoes, no blisters no nothing.
I run on a dirt-track to compensate for the lack of shock-absorbation. If you plan to run on asphalt you should probably consider another shoe."

"This shoe is extrem light and has a very good air circulation through the upper material. It fits very well to the lenght of my feed and provides you some space in and near the toe area. At first I thought it might be to wide, but after a couple of runs I like that my front part of the feed can actually move a little inside the shoe. I wear size 10 (UK) but I could only select Size 8 or 14 for this review.
I used it for a couple of 6-7km runs on the tretmill and it's working very nice.
The sole provides a good cushion effect to absorb shocks.
I can recommend this shoe and I would buy it again."

"These are extremely comfortable to wear because of how light and flexible they are. Nike + is something I'm going to be taking advantage of soon so I'm pleased that feature is included too.
The only real downside I can see is that because the grooves are so deep into the sole of the shoe, if you go anywhere which has any loose gravel or other small stones or debris, you'll almost certainly arrive home with several stuck in the shoe. This seems to be a particular problem around my area but in general it shouldn't affect many people.
The only other thing I would change is to make the swoosh white to give a bit of contrast and stand out a bit more, but that's just a minor personal preference."

"I chose this model from the "Free" range because of its Nike+ compatibility. I was amazed at the light weight straight out of the box and a little bit aprehensive that they might not offer the right degree of protection (they looked so thin and light!). So, I decided to go for a short run to try them out for the first time (7K circuit on mixed terrain, including gravel, tarmac road and a short stretch on sand / forest near my village). Amazing sensations. No discomfort, I love the feel of the ground and textures of different terrains ans the fact that they work different muscles. I think they will be best for shorter runs and to alternate with my other running shoes, but my first impression is WOW! Thanks Nike, and the store for such rapid delivery."

"I was interested in this shoe as I had read used for short runs it could help to strengthen calfs and feet as part of a training schedule.
I have to say the above statement is far too limiting, Initially I was a little wary about going for a long run in these shoes from the stuff I have read on the internet. First I ran 10k and I was impressed, I had a little foot soreness but this i expected and I was not too worried.
Next I ran 20k and I felt amazing, the shoe really gives a positive edge to your running form. You have to think constantly about running with good posture and good balanced foot strike as there is no foam to compensate. The benefit is a more efficient, relaxed and faster run, these things are so light and comfortable I do not want to take them off. I want to wear them to the office and when I am out running, Since that first 10k I have not run in anything else.
Once you get used to these there is no looking back, so far I have put about 200k onto them and they are holding out fine. I will be wearing this shoe when I try for a Boston marthon qualifying time, I will still be wearing it in the bar after I have acheived said time."

"Have been so used to heavy trainers for quite some time, and putting these on is just a completely new feeling, half the time you dont even know they are on they're that light! Use them for general sport training in P.E , but happily wear them all the time they're just too comfy! `The inbuilt Nike+ is a bonus and works great with the iPhone 3Gs, and the little sensor that goes into the shoe adds literally no weight to the overall product. so i dont know what you're reading this for, hurry up and buy a pair, i know ill be getting a second pair!"

"I pray that Nike hasn't quit making these wonderful shoes. I have owned 4 pairs (including the pair I have tucked away in my closet) and I love how comfortable theses are. The Nike Free+ 2 seem to have more support which I don't need. PLEASE keeping making these shoes. I am a walker and yesterday I walked 22 miles non-stop. No blisters, no sore legs. Just a lot of love for my Nike Free+ shoes!"

"This shoe is handsdown the best lightweight running shoe ever produced by Nike. I've had spinal surgery and every shoe I've tried has not helped my spine or lowerback but after purchasing these and using them for the first time, they've helped manage my lowerback pain, stablized my spine and posture, and strengthened my legs and feet. I now own 6 pairs and now I'm on the hunt for all the colors produced. Thank You Nike (especially to the designer) you have helped change my life!
Five stars can't compare to the actual ratings I would put on this shoe."

"I bought my Nike Free Run+ 2 days ago and I am absolutely speechless. This shoe has the lightweight and agility that is preferable for speedwork and tempo runs, but also has enough cushioning and support for those 10-15 mile long runs. At first I was indecisive on whether I should get these or the Nike Free 3.0v2, but after taking all aspects into consideration, I am glad I bought these. They don't weigh that much more than the 3.0v2, which makes it ideal for speed, and there's a little bit more support, which makes it ideal for any distance. Adding to that, I also noticed that it is much easier to land naturally on my mid/forefoot in these shoes because of the fact that they are so flexible. The only downfall of this shoe that I can find is that if you run on trails with many small rocks, some may get caught in the grooves on the bottom. It also runs about a half a size small (For men at least). But other than those insignificant aspects, these shoes are everything you will ever need."

"I'm not a runner and really just bought these for the easy and comfortable, barefoot experience. As I'd hoped, they are very comfortabe, and easy to slip on and go. They're light with good cushioning and no stiff upper areas to rub your feet. I'm mostly thinking of this as a summer shoe, but I'll probably wear it some in the winter, too.
I love how it fits, although it may be slightly small (particularly in length.) I normally wear a 10.5-11 ,and ordered an 11, after reading reviews saying that it fit small. The 11 is the perfect size for me and I worry that a 10.5 would have been too small, although I never tried one on in that size.
There are a couple of things I'm disappointed with about the shoe, however. The first is the color. I got the "Stealth/Dark Grey-Voltage Yellow" shoes. I should have paid attention to the name, because the "Voltage Yellow" color is more neon then the picture on the website. I was hoping to wear these with jeans, but this yellow is too bright to be fashionable with anything other than workout clothing.
The other thing is the "barefoot" fit. Other barefoot shoes I've tried didn't lean me forward, as running shoes usually do. They cushioned my heel and sole, while keeping my foot flat and allowing it to arch naturally. These are more like traditional running shoes, in that they lift your heel off the ground, until you're leaning forward. That may be desireable for running (I don't know?), but it's not like being barefoot, unlike some other shoes"
